Another great review for Z from The Telegraph

Four of the best – New London Hotels, by Francesca Syz.

Z Shoreditch. Z Hotels is a budget group with personality. Its locations are fantastic, its beds feature blissfully comfortable handmade mattresses and there is a complimentary wine and cheese party every night. Frankly, there are times when that is all one needs.

Z Shoreditch, which opened in May, is only a few steps from Old Street station, on the edge of a cool new development called The Bower.

There are 111 rooms, ranging from windowless doubles – much more popular than you would expect – to bigger Z Queens. All are basic but well designed, with hangers for clothes, space under the bed to stash your suitcase, a huge flat screen television, a power shower, a real hairdryer and good fluffy towels.

On the ground floor there is a nice little café with Moorish floor tiles and retro looking lamps and tables, which offers an express or buffet continental breakfast (or bacon rolls to go) and soon a lunchtime salad buffet. Between 5pm and 8pm you can tuck into that free cheese and organic wine (with prosecco available for a supplement).

The details:

Windowless doubles from £59; express breakfast from £3.95
